Well it was my first harescramble in 5yrs and only my 2nd in my life. Who said there would be sand there??? Holy crap, I was not prepared for sand 2' deep. I ran the D class, I think we had 20, I placed 3rd. I had 2nd for the first 2 laps, then a serious of wipeouts took me back to 5th for awhile.

The woods section was okay the 1st lap. the last 3 were just ridiculous. A few places had other lines develop but even they quickly became 18" deep ruts. Saw a few riders stuck--real stuck--in the mudholes.

Weather was good up until the rider meeting started..cooled off and started raining lightly...heavily by the awards part.

I had a good time though and Mike put on a nice weekend.

Not sure were RVGP ranks on harescramble toughness, but if it's not at the top, I may need to hang up my boots and try knitting or scrapbooking...lol!

BLYOTH (not verified)

Brett and Jason Harmon battled all day passing each other. Brett stalled it on the last lap and it took him a couple of kicks to get it fired back up. That allowed another rider to get between him and Jason. Jason 5th Brett 7th in A-Open. Brett finished 23rd overall out of 186 riders. Not to bad for a college kid that only rode one other time this year.

Congrats to all that participated. Sure wish I could have gone - NOT! I knew about the sand.
Way to go Jason and Brett. How did old man Bruster do?
