Ozark Forest: Appeal their decision

Ed Ratchford Emailed this to some folks, but we need to distribute this to all of our members. Every member of ADR should do this. Period. Even if you think it won't work (and maybe you are correct) it won't take but a moment of your time.

Jeff & Lynn and All Off-Road Motorcyclists,

I am forwarding an email from the Ouachita USFS with a Travel Management Plan that proposes no new changes for motorized single track in Arkansas (zero miles) and the 36 miles of existing motorized single track in Oklahoma are proposed to be closed. If you will scroll down to the bottom of page 7 of the Travel Management document, then you will see that it is necessary to send an email or hard copy letter to the Ouachita Ranger District in Hot Springs by Saturday, March 22, 2008 in order for them to consider any appeals to this decision. A simple email correspondence from you is sufficient to stop the Travel Management proposal at this point in time and it will only take you a few minutes to halt this action (please write). The email or letter needs only be a few lines in length and must state that you wish to appeal the USFS proposed Travel Management Plan and that you desire to have motorized single track trails in the Ouachita Forest. I plan to send in a letter before I leave for Idaho on Wednesday, but I need other people to write as well so that the ranger district recognizes that there is wide spread discontent with their proposed action. If you have questions, then please give me a call on my cell phone at 501-231-0878 or office 501-683-0118 direct.

Thanks, Ed Ratchford

My Email

Here it is:

Subject: Proposed action: Appeal

Having read the proposed forest plan, as a tax-payer, local resident, and motorcycle enthusiast I am asking to appeal the "No change" in the plan for motorcycle only trails.

My organization, Arkansas Dirt Riders, with representation from Ed Ratchford and other members (myself included) have identified several proposed areas for single track motorcycle only or single track multi-use trails (motorcycle, hiking, bicycle, horseback) and none of them apparently have been incorporated.
