2008 Wudi10 Ride
This is the tenth year of the "northern invasion" Winter Wudi Fun Ride.
The Wudi Rides started after I posted on the internet in a reply to a snowed-in Minnesota Yankee, telling him to "Quit whining about being snowed in. Load your bike and gear up, and come down South and ride with me, because we ride the year around."
John Brunsgaard took me up on it and brought a friend down to Chadwick and rode with Brandon, Stewart Hall, and myself for a week. (John now lives just outside Rogers, AR.)
The TrainRobbers is the best possible location for the Wudi Rides, but I was worried that someone coming to the Wudi Rides might possibly be involved in an accident (or something) which might adversely effect our club's great relationship with the Ross Foundation. Because of this, in preparation for past Wudi Rides at TrainRobbers, I (with excellent help from ADR club members) would work up elaborate trail schemes to eliminate the possibility of someone having a head on collision while following my marked trail routes. This preparatory trail work was taking up to two months of weekends before the Wudi Rides.
In light of that, and in the interest of eliminating any risk to ADR interests, I moved the Wudi Ride to the Brock Creek area and trails for 2006. This location worked well for the Wudi Ride's originally intended purposes, and the Forestry Service loved the elevated level of use last year (especially by out-of-staters) at their trail oriented rec area.
Since having the Wudi Ride at Brock Creek eliminated all my preparatory trail work and any liability to the ADR and Ross Foundation, and made the FS happy, I have decided to have it at Brock Creek again this year.
Anyway, I just said all that so everyone would know what was going on with the Wudi rides.
I am showing the map below, so that everyone would know how to get to the main camping/gathering spot for the Wudi10 Ride.
Come join us. The riding is good (some of the boys from up north are really "hard chargers" and can fly on the trails) and I really get a kick out of watching these formerly snowbound riders as they are turned loose in the woods. Think "Kids in a candy store".
I'll be happy to introduce you around, and help you join in with some of their groups riding the trails, if you desire.
We will have a guest book for the Wudi10 Ride, and would like for you to sign it when you are up there with us.
